About Universal Cables Limited (UCL) 1945

Universal Cables Limited (UCL) was established in 1945 by the late Shri M.P. Birla, then Chairman, with a state-of-the-art plant for
manufacturing Paper Insulated Cables. Over the years, the Company has gained a world-class reputation and emerged as a leader in the
Indian cable industry.
In 1977, UCL introduced XLPE technology to India in collaboration with M/s. Asea Kabels AB, Sweden (now ABB Cables). The company
has also partnered with international leaders such as Furukawa Electric Co. Ltd., Japan, and Viscas Corporation, Japan, for advanced
cable manufacturing and jointing accessories.

EHV Turnkey Projects Academic and Industry Engagements
Completed major installations, including: Delivered guest lectures at institutions like:
400kV EHV underground cable systems in Chennai CPRI, Bengaluru
132kV GIS Substation in Hyderabad. CBIP, New Delhi
Jointing Works Capability Upgrade Participation in Industry Exhibitions
Jointers now certified for 400kV jointing, upgraded from 220kV class. Actively participated in ELECRAMA and international exhibitions.
